In 2003 Takagi came out with their smallest tankless water heater to date. They introduced the Takagi jr tankless water heater. It may be small but it houses a lot of power that uses gas input of maximum 140,000 BTU every hour for all the hot water required by a 2000sq foot home. It may also serve the light needs of a small commercial application with its 40 gallon wall mounted structure such as hair salons or service stations.

The Takagi jr tankless water heater has an energy factor of between 0.81 and 0.83 that enables it to function well even in the winter when the ground water is at 60 degrees F; it provides a flow rate of 3.8 GPM which is equivalent to 228 GPH. Lower input temperatures such as 40 degrees F can still achieve a 2.7 GPM flow rate. That is considered a good flow through of hot water by any standard. At the average temperature of 60 degrees F, Takagi JR can supply a sufficient amount of hot water for a shower and another simple application simultaneously. It offers 113 degrees F, 122 degrees F, 140 degrees F and 182 degrees F as its standard set of temperatures; you can purchase separate model controllers to change to another preferred temperature.
